Kay C. Knudsen, 51, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Kay C. Knudsen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church.

Kay died on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at her home in Albert Lea. She was 51 years old.

Kay was born in Albert Lea on May 31, 1952, the daughter of Holger (Buzz) and Harriet A. (Nelson) Knudsen. She was a 1970 graduate of Albert Lea High School and had attended Austin Community College and Lea College. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Kay had worked with her family at the Plymouth Shoe Store since she was 13 years old and just recently purchased the business from her parents. She was a member of the Albert Lea Downtown Retail Association and the Chamber of Commerce.

Kay’s many interests included walking, cross stitching, stamping, biking, swimming, playing volleyball and board games with nieces and nephews. The special love of her life were her dogs, Schatzi and Abby. She was a miniature schnauzer breeder for over 25 years and an excellent dog groomer.

Kay is survived by her parents, Buzz and Harriet of Albert Lea; brothers and sisters: Reid (Laura) Knudsen of Clarks Grove, and their children: Jordan, Alysha and Brianna; Jan (Les) Coe of Alton, Iowa and their children: Randi and Kati; and Brian (Linda) Knudsen of Alden, and their children: Michael and Cody; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Trinity Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
