Leona Meyer, 89, Walters

Leona Elvera Meyer, 89, Walters died Friday, June 27, 2003 at her home in rural Walters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at United Lutheran Church in Walters. Rev. Donald Rose will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday, June 30 at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Interment will be at United Lutheran Cemetery rural Walters.

She was born on April 30, 1914 in Waseca County, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Strobel) Sodeman. On Oct. 28, 1943 she married Ferdinand &uot;Fred&uot; F. Meyer in Mankato. They farmed near Walters for many years. She also worked at the Golden Bubble and enjoyed raising turkeys, ducks, geese, chickens, sheep, cats and dogs. She also loved embroidery and gardening.

She is survived by two sisters; Rose Engelby, Mankato and Lucille Morton, Pemberton, Minn. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1960, and two sisters; Lydia Matz and Louise Bjornson: and one brother; Harold Sodeman.
