John Buboltz was looking for a way to stay involved in the community after retiring as a teacher from the vo-tech college in Albert Lea 15 years ago.
That is when Buboltz received a call asking him to help out with the Meals on the Go program.
Ever since then, Buboltz has spent one day each week delivering meals for a couple of hours.
Buboltz said he looks forward to meeting with the other drivers for coffee before they go out on their routes. He also enjoys knowing he helps other seniors live more independently because of the delivered meals.
Buboltz looks at his volunteer work as &uot;doing something valuable with your time.&uot;
When Buboltz delivers the meals, he can tell the recipients are happy to see him. He said they always want to visit and he tries to spend a couple of minutes with them.
