Wilmer R. Broitzman, 88, Glenville

Funeral services for Wilmer R. Broitzman, age 88, of Glenville, will be held on Tuesday, July 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Baker will officiate.
Burial will be at Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Wilmer died on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Northwood Retirement Center.
Wilmer R. Broitzman was born Sept. 28, 1914 on a farm east of Gordonsville, the son of Bernard and Lizzie (Wolff) Broitzman. He was baptized on Oct. 18, 1914, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by J. O. Stahling and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Northwood, Iowa.
On Nov. 12, 1939, Wilmer was united in marriage to Nadine Olson at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed all of their married life together.
Wilmer was a very active person, who helped construct the new church in 1954 of which he took great pride.
He served as trustee of Bethlehem Lutheran for eight years. He served as secretary/treasurer for the rural school and also trustee for Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery for many years.
He enjoyed mowing his lawn and planting flowers.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine; sons: Roger, Lonny and Dennis and wife Joyce Broitzman; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Broitzman; sister, Mable Perleberg; and many nieces and nephews.
Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Leon, Martin and Edward;
sister, Edna Leidal; daughter-in-law, Diane Broitzman; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda Blankenship.
Wilmer will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.
