Alice C. Hughes, 62, formerly of Alden

Alice C. Hughes, age 62, of Minneapolis, formerly of Alden, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at her home in Minneapolis.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 3, at 1 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Alden. The Rev. Lynn Borgeson will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Cambria Cemetery in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County.

Alice was born on Nov. 15, 1940, in Albert Lea, the daughter of T. Floyd and Selma (Anderson) Hughes.

Alice graduated from Alden High School, class of 1959, and from Mankato State University with a degree in mathematics and German. She was currently working as an accountant at a non-profit Social Service agency in Minneapolis. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Alden. She enjoyed music and attending concerts with friends. She was very proud of her Welsh heritage. She was on the Board of Directors of the “Minnesota GymanfaGanu Association” (Welsh Singing Festival). She was also a member of the Lupus Support Group. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her many cousins.

She is survived by her mother, Selma Hughes of St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea; one brother, Tom Hughes of Minneapolis; four aunts: Naomi Haven of Tacoma, Wash., Agnes Sather of Jackson, Minn., Nancy Peters of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mae Kjos of Mankato; and many cousins and their families.

She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
