Briefs: U-11 girls tie Eagan, shut out Winona
Published 12:00 am Tuesday, July 8, 2003
The U -11 girls soccer team scored a tie and a victory in recent action.
At Eagan, the Albert Lea defense again dominated and allowed only a couple shots on goal. The offense pounded the Eagan goal, but came up empty. Just over halfway through the second half the game was called because of lightning. Unfortunately for Albert Lea, it was recorded as a complete game and ended at a 0-0 tie.
Albert Lea hosted Winona, and it was a 9-0 blowout for the home team. The defense completely stopped the Winona offense and kept the ball in Winona’s end of the field. Scoring for Albert Lea were Maria Maras, Abbey Arends, Sophie Miller, Stephanie Ferguson, Morgan Stadheim, Kellsie Dieser and Jenna Bowman. Assists went to Dieser, Jenna Bowman, Stadheim, Maras and Madi Passingham.
