Carol Hodge, 60, Wells

Carol Hodge, age 60, of Wells, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at her home in Wells, from complications of cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and continues one hour prior to services at the church on Friday with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.

She was born June 20, 1943, the daughter of Wilbert and Cecelia (Dusza) Young in Albert Lea.

Carol lived most of her life in the Wells area. She attended Wells Public Schools and graduated from Albert Lea Vo-Tech in 1987. She was a business owner and homemaker and worked for the Wells American Legion for many years. She married Daniel William Hodge on Nov. 8, 1960 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Carol was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, the Wells American Legion Auxiliary, and the Wells Area Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, sewing, quilting and selling “Home and Garden” products. She especially enjoyed socializing with friends, having coffee at “Jake’s” and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her mother, Cecelia Young of Wells; two sons: Daniel Scott Hodge (wife Sandra) of Wells, and Llewellyn (wife Barb) Hodge of Wells; three daughters: Julienne (husband David) Pourrier of Wells, Sandra Lopez of Wells, and Jo Dell (husband Fidel) Trujillo of Wells; eight grandchildren: Thomas, Joshua and Shawn Michael Pourrier, Elizabeth Lopez, Krystine and Robert Hodge, and Tony and Jessica Trujillo; three step grandchildren: Michael, Christopher and Jessica Pourrier; and one brother, Daniel and his wife Deann Young of Albert Lea.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert Young; husband, Dan, in 1999; two grandchildren: Sarah Jo and Amy Jo Pourrier; her mother- and father-in-law: Daniel J. and Phyllis M. (Grandin) Hodge; grandparents: August and Amelia Dusza; and brother and sister-in-law: Jerry and Carol Heikkinen; and one nephew, Brad Young.
