Charlotte H. Brouwers, 81, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Charlotte H. Brouwers, age 81, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Paul Aldrich will officiate. Private interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Charlotte died from cancer Sunday, July 6, 2003, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Charlotte Hermina Brouwers was born Nov. 18, 1921, to K. Sebert and Elizabeth C. (Mielke) Lien in Montrose, Minn. She attended Maple Island Grade School, Albert Lea High School and graduated from North High School in Minneapolis. On March 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to John G. Brouwers in Albert Lea. Charlotte was a waitress at Hotel Albert and was in sales at J. C. Penney for 20 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and active in various church activities. Charlotte enjoyed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, crafts and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Rick Brouwers and special friend Mary Roberts, both of Brooksville, Fla., Rodney and wife Janice Brouwers of Rochester, Elizabeth and husband Allen Karsjens of Albert Lea, and Eleanora and husband Ron Sewell of Knoxville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Fuller of Albert Lea; brothers: Oliver and wife Gerry Lien of Kansas City, Mo., Marvin Lien of Albert Lea, and Sanford and wife Neva Lien, also of Albert Lea; several nieces and nephews; and close friend, Haze Johnson of Albert Lea.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers: Verdon, Lawrence and Herman; and grandson, Ben Karsjens.
