Donald B. Johnsrud, 73, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Donald B. Johnsrud, age 73, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at the church.

Don died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Donald B. Johnsrud was born June 26, 1930, in Albert Lea. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1948. In June of 1948, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged four years later. On Dec. 22, 1951, he was united in marriage to Eva Wacholz. Don began his career in the Postal Service in St. Paul in June of 1955. He was a mail clerk on the railway. For eight years, Don was a full-time clerk on the Hi-Way Post Office. He transferred to the Albert Lea Post Office in February 1969 as a postal worker. In 1975, Don took the position of Superintendent of Mails and in 1977 became Superintendent of Postal Operations. He retired June 28, 1985. Don was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He was a diehard sports enthusiast and was especially a Vikings and Twins fan.

Survivors include his wife, Eva; sons: Joel and wife Pam of Mason City, Iowa, Jeffory and wife Penny of Albert Lea, Jay and wife Ann of Decatur, Texas, and Jed of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Jill and husband Al Quesenberry of Hanska, Minn.; grandchildren: Amber and Ashley Johnsrud of Mason City, Adam Johnsrud of Decatur, Texas, Sydney Johnsrud of Fort Worth, Texas, and Cody, Caleb and Alex of Hanska; sister, Connie and husband Bob Hansen of Albert Lea; and brother, David and wife Barbara Johnsrud of Faribault.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Elder and Sadie Johnsrud, and in-laws, Alfred and Luella Wacholz.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
