Helen “Grandma Jake” Jacobsen, 94, Wells

Helen &uot;Grandma Jake&uot; Jacobsen, 94, Wells, died Friday, July 4, 2003 at Thorne Crest North in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, July 7 at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-8 p.m. with a 6:30 prayer service. Also one hour prior to the services at the church in Tuesday with a 9 a.m. Rosary at the church. Interment will at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.
Helen was born April 18, 1909, the daughter of Charles and Julia (Kalis) Dylla in Dunbar Township, Faribault County, Minn. She married Walter Jacobsen on June 25, 1929 in Wells.
Helen was a life-long resident on Wells. She was a life-long member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, its Rosary School and St. Joseph’s Circle. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was employed by various companies in Wells. Helen enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Arlene and her husband Myron Ewert of Wells and 12 grandchildren: Jerry (Jane) Ewert, Sandy (Lon) Hird, Susie Stoen and special friend Dale Jahnke, Woody Stoen and special friend Sheryl, Brian (Edie) Stoen, Pat (Tony) Harkins, Pam Schull and special friend Donnie Becker, Michael (Paula) Ewert, Debbie (Dave) Green, Karen, Jody and Cindy Jacobsen. She is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, Hayley, Hannah, Hope and Jacob,; two sisters; Mary Ann Kruger of Mankato and Adeline Anderson of Wenatchee, Wash.; one brother: Leo Dylla of Wells.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1990, son Donald in 1979, two sisters, Florence Prange and Martha Schroeder and six brothers, Frank, Louis, Roman, Ray, Herbert and Alex in infancy.
