Iona Cashman, 91, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Iona Cashman, age 91, of Albert Lea, will be held on Tuesday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Schneider and Mike Ellis will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lake City, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the chapel.
Iona died on Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Iona Cashman was born on June 18, 1912, in Minneiska, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Krich. She attended and graduated from Lake City High School and three years at Winona State. She later attended Mankato Business School where she became a legal secretary. On Dec. 15, 1936 Iona was united in marriage to Raymond Cashman in Lake City. The couple moved to Albert Lea in 1952 where Iona became the legal secretary at the Municipal Court until 1967. The couple then moved back to Lake City where they owned and operated a business. Iona moved back to Albert Lea in 1999. She enjoyed handiwork and reading. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son, Richard and wife Diane Cashman of Albert Lea; daughter, Pat and husband Darroll Johannsen of Albert Lea; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Iona was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Raymond, in 1984.
