Robert “Bob” Paulson, age 79, of Pinewood, Minn., died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Goldpine Home, Bemidji.
The “Celebration of Life” service will be held at Emmons Lutheran Church, Emmons, at 2 p.m. Friday, July 18, with the Rev. Christie Wendland officiating. Disposition was by cremation and interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Emmons, on Friday, July 18, under the direction of the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.
Bob Paulson was born June 15, 1924, in Emmons, to Christ and Gida (Knutson) Paulson. He grew up in Emmons where he attended school at the Ryghs Country School and the Emmons Public School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After being discharged from the service he returned to Emmons and worked at the Wilson’s Meat Packing Plant.
He married Sonja Welch, and they lived in Albert Lea with their two sons. Later, Bob married Ida Helland on Sept. 26, 1967, in Lead, S.D. They lived in Emmons with their six children until 1977 when they moved to Detroit Lakes, Minn. In 2002, Bob and Ida moved to Pinewood, Minn. Bob enjoyed showing and raising horses, hunting, fishing and woodcarving.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ida Paulson of Pinewood; two sons: Mike (Norene Sundet) Paulson of Lynnville, Minn., and Terry (Karen Axelon) Paulson of Lakeville, Minn.; one daughter, Kyle (Steven Thorson) Paulson of Pinewood; four grandchildren: Adam and David Paulson, and Zachary and Jamie Lair; three sisters: Donna (Marlin) Hagen of Northwood, Iowa, Mary (Duane) Bartness of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Margaret Bartness of Ames, Iowa; and one brother, Carl (Barb) Paulson of Emmons.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Thomas (1968) and Jeffery (1988); one daughter, Robyn (2000); and one sister, Margaret.
