Verl Clifford Ruud, 84, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Verl Clifford Ruud, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Clarks Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.

Mr. Ruud died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 84 years of age.

Verl was born May 10, 1919, in Mower County, the son of Emil and Lilly (Erickson) Ruud. He grew up in the Ostrander and Spring Valley area before moving to Albert Lea in 1959 when he met his wife to be.

Verl was united in marriage to Norma Halseth in 1959 in Madison, S.D.

Verl was engaged in farming for many years before coming to work for the Streater Co. He then worked for Endres Tool Co. from which he retired.

Verl served in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime member of the DAV. He enjoyed taking care of his cars and driving. He loved to visit with friends and relatives, and was always happy to help others.

He was a good man and we thank the Lord for the time we had with him, and now he is with his Lord.

Verl is survived by his wife, Norma of Albert Lea; daughter, Linda Larson and her special friend Robert Stehlik of Albert Lea; and grandchildren: Jena Larson, Brady Larson and Dakota Stehlik. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Verl was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, six brothers and son-in-law, Paul Larson.
