With both an all high school reunion and a town festival landing on the same weekend, organizers for this year’s Glenville Days are expecting a large turnout.

&uot;I would anticipate that there will be a lot of alumni coming back to the area that haven’t made it in years past,&uot; Tom Koerber, the parade chairman for Glenville Days, said.

Some of the events will coincide with both the reunion and town festival, Koerber said.

The event will kick off Friday with a steak fry at the American Legion. Saturday, as always, will be filled with events. At 10 a.m. the parade begins, which will be followed by a barbeque pork lunch.

According to Koerber, the lunch is always a favorite because it coincides with the &uot;Little King and Queen&uot; contest. The contest picks a child queen and king for the weekend. Each of the children is interviewed on why they are the best candidate. Koerber said it is reminiscent of the television show &uot;Kids Say the Darnedest things.&uot;

At 12:30 p.m. there will be a tractor pull and a classic car show.

The all-school reunion banquet will start at 6:30 p.m. at the high school, and will be followed by a street dance, which starts at 8 p.m.

Sunday will start with a church service in the park at 8 a.m., followed by a pancake breakfast at the fire department.

At 1 p.m. at Northwood golf course in northern Iowa, there will be a Glenville Days golf tournament.

The boosters will also be hosting a senior housing fundraiser variety show.

The weekend will be capped off by a picnic in the park, which will cost $2.50 per plate.

&uot;I think it’s just a fun family atmosphere that anyone can enjoy,&uot; Koerber said. &uot;It’s basically a good family event.&uot;
