Police are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man whose body was found in his home on Circle Avenue after it had been decomposing for about two weeks. Thursday, an examination of the body showed no obvious cause of death.
County Coroner Edward Shaman said he’s identified a possible cause, but he’s waiting for results from blood-chemistry and drug screens to rule out other possibilities. He wouldn’t discuss the possible cause.
Albert Lea Detective Ben Mortensen said &uot;it’s leaning toward not&uot; being foul play, although he said he is still interviewing people and awaiting the completed autopsy.
The man, Scott Brian Taylor, was found by a friend, Mortensen said. There was no sign of a struggle, robbery or physical harm at the scene.
Taylor and former housemate Myrna Sunde of Albert Lea were convicted in 2000 of a psychic scam that bilked people out of more than $300,000. Sunde is currently serving time in prison.
