Roy R. Seipp, age 72, of Owatonna, formerly of Alden, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at his home from complications of cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Alden United Methodist Church in Alden. The Rev. Lynn Borgeson will officiate. Visitation will be today, Aug. 29, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery with military honors presented by the Alden American Legion Post and Freeborn County Veterans’ organizations.
He was born Dec. 31, 1930, the son of Melvin and Elvina (Nielsen) Seipp in Alden, and married Ladonna Voigt on Aug. 6, 1955, in Alden.
Roy graduated from Alden High School and entered the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving as a Seabee in a mobile construction battalion. After he was honorably discharged, he worked with his dad in construction until he was 25. He then worked as a sheet metal worker for Ebert Plumbing and Heating in Alden. He worked through the union as a sheet metal worker until his retirement in 1993. Roy was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and the Alden American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife, Ladonna Seipp of Owatonna; one daughter, Lia and her husband Mark Ignaszewski of Alden; two sons: Reid and his wife Debra Seipp of Hastings, and Nyle and his wife Cindy Seipp of BelAir, Md.; eight grandchildren: Monica, Tyler, Kyle and Patric Ignaszewski; Ryan and Ashley Seipp, and Weston and Aaron Seipp; one brother, Lloyd and his wife Rose Seipp of Alden; one sister, Judith and her husband Ervin Ulrich of Apple Valley, Minn.; brother-in-law, Eugene Turtness, of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Marlene Seipp of Alden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Verle Seipp; and one sister, Lois Turtness.
Memorials are preferred to Ronald McDonald House and Owatonna Area Hospice.
