Weekend Planner: Annual dog show set this weekend

The Albert Lea City Arena will &uot;go to the dogs&uot; this weekend as the annual Albert Lea Dog Show, hosted by the Albert Lea Kennel Club, gets under way.
The show will be held all day Saturday and Sunday, and admission is free.
Organizers say the dog show can be fun for anyone, from handlers who show dogs to people who like to see different breeds.
Following is a roundup of other events happening in the area this weekend.
Friday, Aug. 8
-The works of Jim and Judith Miller of Blue House Pottery in Clear Lake, Iowa, and watercolor artist Kathy Mullins of Hutchinson are on exhibit the Albert Lea Art Center, 224 S. Broadway Ave., from noon-4 p.m. Admission is free.
-The Pelican Breeze will hold a pizza cruise at 6 p.m. Reservations are required before 4 p.m. Friday. Call 383-2630.
Saturday, Aug. 9
-The Albert Lea Farmers’ Market is open in the parking lot at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Water Street from 9 a.m.-noon.

Sunday, Aug. 10
-Albert Lea Sons of Norway Normanna Lodge 52 will host an old-fashioned Norwegian roll pancake breakfast from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. The menu includes Norwegian roll pancakes, ham slices, eggs, lingonberries, orange juice or coffee and &uot;good company.&uot; The cost is $4 per person. Children under 12 eat free.
-Northbridge Mall will host a sports card and collectible show from noon-5 p.m.
-The Full House Band of Glenville will present the weekly free program of live music in Edgewater Park at 1:30 p.m. The band plays country, old-time waltzes and polkas and other music. The band includes Kevin Walton as leader and playing lead guitar and fiddle; Terri Jo Walton on drums; Renae Herr on accordion, keyboards and acoustic guitar; and Jim Berg of Northwood, Iowa, playing bass guitar.
-The Pelican Breeze will hold a public cruise at 2 p.m.
