A natural for volunteering

Marlene Behle enjoys doing three things: baking, cleaning and writing. She is able to do all three in her volunteer work at the Audubon Science Center in Albert Lea.
Behle started volunteering at the center after she was asked by Ann Bryson, a friend of Behle’s daughter. Bryson is the center’s director.
Behle has helped by baking treats for the kids, cleaning, creating educational displays and more.
Behle said she enjoys volunteering at the center because it gives her a chance to get out of the house and be around children. She also learns some things while at the center.
&uot;It is actually a education for me,&uot; she said.
The Audubon Science Center teaches kids about wildlife and habitats. Behle believes it is a place where kids can both learn and have fun.
&uot; This is really a good place for parents to bring their children,&uot; she said.
Bryson said volunteers like Behle are very valuable to places like the Audubon Science Center.
&uot; It’s beneficial to us in the non-profit area,&uot; she said.
