MANKATO &045; It’s been a good week so far for the Albert Lea High School girls’ soccer team.

The same can’t be said for the Tigers’ opponents. They’ve yet to score a goal.

The Tigers won 2-0 at Mankato West Thursday, two nights after playing to a 0-0 tie at Rochester Mayo.

&uot;So far, we’ve had a good week,&uot; said coach Paul Marka. &uot;I feel the team’s playing pretty well right now.&uot;

The teams played in the rain at West Thursday, where it was 0-0 at halftime.

Katie Dooley put Albert Lea on the board about three minutes into the second half, assisted by Anna Sigurdson. Tessa Christensen scored about midway through the second half on an assist from Brittany Arendt. Annie Berger registered her third shutout in goal on her 15th birthday.

Arendt played an outstanding game at forward, according to Marka.

The Tigers outshot the Scarlets 12-2.

Albert Lea’s junior varsity played to a scoreless tie.

The Tigers, 3-3-1 in the Big Nine and 3-4-1 overall, are looking for revenge Saturday when Owatonna comes to town for a noon game at Hammer Field. The Tigers lost their season opener 5-0 at Owatonna.

&uot;We need to play well against Owatonna &045; they’re a strong club and they’re second in the Big Nine,&uot; said Marka. &uot;I feel we have something to prove to ourselves. I feel we’re playing well right now and I’m confident we’ll play well Saturday.&uot;
