Alice Lorena Ehlert, 95, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Alice L. Ehlert, 95, of Albert Lea, formerly of Blue Earth, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the Chapel.
Alice died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Alice Lorena Ehlert was born Aug. 29, 1908, to William F. T. and Emma M. (Sahr) Kluender in Faribault County near Kiester. She attended country school District #77, Foster Township, Faribault County, through the eighth grade. On Dec. 14, 1927, Alice was united in marriage to Oliver Ehlert by the Rev. Roy L. Preston. The couple farmed in the Kiester/Walters area until 1954 when they moved to Blue Earth. Alice was a homemaker and later clerked at a hardware store, as well as Krusemark and Viesselmans grocery stores until she retired. Alice moved to Albert Lea in 1991 where she lived until her death. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, playing cards, walking, traveling, and she especially enjoyed her pet cat, &uot;Mack.&uot;
Survivors include her daughter, Virgie Ann Murra and husband Cecil of Blue Earth; daughter, Mary Lee Thompson and husband Roger G. of Albert Lea; son, Charles O. Ehlert and wife Pat of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Alice Kay Hamm, Linda Lee Bakken, Jeffrey Ehlert, Sandra Hanson, Dean R. Thompson, Burton H. Thompson and Paul D. Thompson; great-grandchildren: Anthony (T. J.) Diaz, Alexis Thompson, Collin Thompson and Shane and Ryan Thompson; sister-in-law, Lilah Kluender of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver Ehlert; sisters: Anna Sydow, Elsie Matz and Esther Jensen; and brothers: William Kluender, George Kluender, E. Benjamin Kluender and A. Samuel Kluender.
