Catherine A. Miller, age 55, of Watford City, N.D., passed away on Sept. 4, 2003, in Rochester of complications from cancer.
Cathy was born on April 30, 1948, the daughter of Roy and Ann Marie Olson of Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and moved to Minneapolis where she met Thomas Miller. Tom and Cathy were united in marriage on July 27, 1968, in Albert Lea. They made their home in Minneapolis where she gave birth to their son, Rick. Several years later they moved to Bismarck where their daughter, Tammy, was born. In 1981, their family moved to Watford City where Cathy worked at Social Services. Cathy then pursued her dream of working with and helping troubled children and obtained her bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Minot State University in 1996 at the age of 48.
Cathy will be remembered as a loving companion to Tom. Rick will always remember how loving and supportive she was and how much fun they had watching the games together. To Tammy, she will always be her best friend, confidant, and source of strength. Mother-in-law and friend to Marcy, to Cathy’s pride and joy Jordan, Zachary, Logan, and Paige Catherine, their fun-loving and devoted Grandma. And to her sisters, Sandy Kautz and Lori Kirsch, and her brother, John Olson. They will always remember the wonderful times they shared with her, as children growing up and as adults.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; her son, Rick and his family, Marcy, Logan, and Paige Catherine; her daughter, Tammy and her family, Sam, Jordan, and Zachary; her two sisters: Sandy and Lori; her brother, John; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Ann Marie Olson.
In lieu of flowers, Cathy’s family prefers memorials be given to the American Cancer Society.
