Funeral services for Lorraine A. Hansen, age 103, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today, Sept. 5, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the chapel.
Lorraine died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, where she had been a resident for 22 years.
Lorraine A. Hansen was born May 17, 1900 (Syttende Mai), in Hartland Township, Worth County, Iowa, the daughter of Tollef and Johanna (Loberg) Lucken. She was baptized and confirmed at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church in rural Northwood and attended the Northwood area schools. Lorraine married Russell A. Hansen on Dec. 13, 1921, in Albert Lea. She was a member of the Silver Lake Lutheran Church of rural Northwood, the First Baptist Church of Albert Lea and the First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. She worked for a short time at Hotel Albert in Albert Lea. Lorraine enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading mysteries, growing African violets and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, James Hansen and wife Hilda of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters: Marilyn and husband David Stadheim, and Susan and husband Roy Kraushaar, all of Albert Lea; nine grandchildren: Bryan (Angie) Stadheim, Bruce (Ruth) Stadheim, Blake (Lynn) Stadheim, Blair (Karen) Stadheim, Amy Stadheim (Julio Ortega), Allan (Kris) Stadheim, Lynne (Larry) Anderson, Paula (Gordy) Rhiger, and Karla (Mike) Thompson; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, James Lucken and wife Lois of Fort Dodge, Iowa; sister, Laila Paterson of San Francisco, Calif.; sister-in-law, Bernice Lucken of Northwood, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell, in 1975; daughter, Margaret Sucker; brothers: George and Palmer; infant sister, Pearl; and two grandchildren: Kim Hansen and Gina Siemer of Jacksonville, Fla.
Lorraine will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
