After playing its best match of the season at Winona, the Albert Lea High School volleyball team started slow against Rochester Century Tuesday and lost a 3-0 decision at ALHS. The Panthers won 25-11, 25-18, 28-26.
&uot;We played an all-around better game at Winona,&uot; said coach Gina Eppen. &uot;Tonight, we realized things were not going so well, but we dug in anyway. Rochester Century came out and set a quick pace and it took us a while to adjust to it. We’re real strong when everyone on the team is on top of their game, but we need all six girls playing well on the court at the same time to get Big Nine wins.&uot;
Tuesday’s individual statistics: Katie Brackey 13 assists, 15 digs, two aces; Jenna Brackey seven assists, two kills, 12 digs; Amber Edwards eight blocks, seven kills, eight digs, one ace; Danielle Rankin three blocks, four kills, 12 digs; Heather Stegenga three blocks, six kills, one ace; Emily Bartusek one block, two kills, 17 digs; Ali Blenka one kill, one dig.
The Tigers’ record fell to 1-3 in the Big Nine and 3-8 overall. They play at Faribault Thursday.
