Dorris A. Knutson, age 83, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and longtime Arizona winter resident, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at the Touch Of Desert Class Home in Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Emmons Lutheran Church in Emmons, with the Rev. Julie Fiske officiating. Visitation is from 6-7 p.m. Friday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Emmons. A Memorial service will be held at the Best Funeral Home, Peoria, Ariz., on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.
Dorris Arlene Knutson was born March 26, 1920, in Leland, Iowa, daughter of Eddie and Alma (Vold) Carlson. She attended school in Leland. On March 24, 1940, she was united in marriage to Albert K. Knutson. Albert and Dorris operated the Emmons Caf for many years.
Dorris enjoyed a full life with Albert until he passed in 1994. They enjoyed trips to Norway, Alaska and throughout the U.S. Winters in Arizona were always special to them being with family and friends they had there. Dorris thought so much of so many people. The past few years she also enjoyed trips to Norway, Canada, and a cruise with her daughter, Deb. She will be missed by many. Dorris did not want to be center attraction, but always part of the action.
Dorris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Terry Anderson of New River, Ariz.; son-in-law James Doffing of Sun City, Ariz.; grandchildren: Shannon and Jeremy Anderson, Daniel Moe, and Jodi and Jimi Doffing all in Arizona; grandson, Dennis and wife Loretta of Las Vegas, Nev.; great-grandchildren: Asa and Ariel Anderson, Samantha and Billy Moe, Jaini Fabrizio, Kendra and Cassonova, and Amber and Tyler Kalsow, all in Arizona; sisters and brothers-in-law: Ruby and Luther Okland of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Lois and Raymond Schmidt of Chico, Calif.; along with many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Dorris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; son, Dennis; daughter, Donna; three brothers: Vernon, Dean and Richard; along with several nephews.
