Eva D. Verdoorn, 92, Hollandale

Funeral services for Eva Verdoorn, age 92, of Hollandale, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Hollandale Reformed Church. The Rev. Mark Volkers will officiate. Interment will be in Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.
Eva died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Albert Lea Medical Center after a courageous struggle with cancer.
Eva Dena Verdoorn was born April 19, 1911, to Jon Marimus and Jane (TeGrotenhuis) De Vries in Newkirk, Iowa.
She graduated from Albert Lea High School. On Sept. 12, 1930, Eva was united in marriage to Henry Raymond Verdoorn. The couple lived most of their 73 years of married life in the Hollandale area.
Eva was employed in food service in the Albert Lea school district. She enjoyed cross-stitching and was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church where she was involved in quilting and many other church functions.
Survivors include her husband, Henry of Hollandale; sons: Ronald J. and his wife Barbara of San Antonio, Texas, H. James and his wife Lois of Albert Lea, Phillip R. and his wife Mavis of Springboro, Ohio, and Daniel D. and his wife Linda of State College, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Verdoorn of Albert Lea; sisters, Marie Harrington and Ethel Van Zanten; brother, Roy DeVries; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; son, A. Eugene; daughter, Myrna Jane; grandson, Brad Verdoorn; brothers: Arie &uot;Doc&uot; DeVries, Henry &uot;Hein&uot; DeVries, and Edward DeVries; and sister, Dena Sherman.
Eva will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice in Albert Lea.
