Martha M. Thomas, 85, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Martha M. Thomas of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at St. Theodore Catholic Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel from 4-8 p.m., with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery.

Martha died Saturday evening. Oct. 11, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 85 years of age.

Martha was born Nov. 19, 1917 in Wells, the daughter of Vincent and Pelegia Dombrowski. She attended public school in Waseca County. In 1938, Martha was united in marriage to William Thomas in Minnesota Lake.

Martha was a resident of Faribault County before moving to Albert Lea many years ago. She was employed for a short time at the Skyline Cafe. Martha was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and was involved in the CCW, Thursday Morning Quilters, and she loved working with the RCIA. She was also a member of the American War Dads Auxiliary and the Moose Club.

Martha enjoyed quilting, playing dominos, needlework and playing cards. She also loved to bake and spend time with her grandchildren.

Martha is survived by her children: Robert Thomas of El Dorado, Kan., Eugene (Elaine) Thomas of Alden, Richard (friend Rhonda) Thomas of El Dorado, Kan., Duane (Brenda) Thomas of Hopkins, S.C., Karen (Doug) VanRyswyk of Alden, Gregory (Sheila) Thomas of Albert Lea, and Ronald (friend Kari) Thomas of Glenville; and grandchildren: Jim, Mark, Deb (Paul), Vicki, Laura (Rob), Larry (Samantha), Amy, Brian, Keith, Heather, Christopher and Grace. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; sisters: Victoria Bushlack of Waseca, Annie (Willard) Sonnek of Easton, and Katie (Tony) Dulas of Wells; and brother-in-law, Larry (Anna) Thomas Roy of Washington.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters: Helen Wilder and Gertrude Becker; and granddaughter, Angie VanRyswyk.
