Nels Emil Nelson, age 86, formerly of Austin, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Eagle Crest Assisted Living in Roseville.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha “Bertie” Nelson of Roseville; son, Perry M. (Helen) Nelson of Shoreview; three grandchildren: Ryan T. Nelson and fiancee Tara Rea, Sara L. Nelson and Scott M. Nelson; brother, Norman Nelson of Richfield; sisters: Elsie Blanchard of Portland, Ore., and Agnes Anderson of Austin; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by siblings: Joseph, Swend, Margaret, Lauritz, Olga and Jens.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Harold Deye officiating. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216. Friends may greet the family one hour before the service. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.

The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
