The funeral service for Wanita M. Tukua will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland. The Rev. Jack Miller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, is in charge of the arrangements.

Wanita died on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Seasons Hospice, Rochester. She was 82 years old.

Wanita was born in New Richland on March 12, 1921, the daughter of Orville and Abbie Haugan, She attended New Richland High School.

On June 25, 1939, she was united in marriage with Norris Tukua in New Richland. They have made their home in Rochester since 1957 and were members of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Wanita worked in sales at Masseys, Wallace’s and Stephenson’s in Rochester. She enjoyed reading, gardening and sewing.

Wanita is survived by her husband, Norris of Rochester; two children: Sharon Haugan and Steven (Melanie) Tukua of Rochester; six grandchildren: Brian (Brenda) Lamonica, Chris (Amy) Tukua, Mike Tukua, Scott Tukua, and Danny Tukua; one great-grandchild, Dakota Lamonica; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and great-granddaughter, Savannah.
