Alma Dorothy Flo, 95, Blue Earth

Alma Dorothy Flo, age 95, formerly of Kiester, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester, with the Rev. Richard Steffen officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m.. at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Kiester.

Alma was born on June 23, 1908, in Logan Township, Winnebago County, Iowa; the daughter of Olaf J. and Andrena (Hauge) Sime.

She married Sidney Flo in Feb. 26,1928 in Scarville, Iowa. They lived in the Kiester area for many years. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Kiester, the WELCA, Dorcas Circle, and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed movies, travelogs, walking, traveling, playing games with the grandchildren and gardening.

She is survived by two daughters: Shirley (husband Mearald) Elvebak of Kiester, and Rosalie (husband Larry) Haukoos of Deland, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Sharlaine (husband Larry) Hemmingsen of Kearney, Mo.,Marshall Elvebak of Prior Lake, Minn., Kandee (husband Scott) Petersen of Alden, Lori Brune of Albert Lea, Mark (wife Kathy) Haukoos of Black Earth, Wis., Dana (wife April) Haukoos of Oakland, Fla., and Michelle (husband Ross) Becker of Thornton, Colo.; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Marjorie Fjone of Kiester; two brothers: Milton (wife Selma) Sime of Lake, Mills, Iowa, and Wayne (wife Erliss) Sime of Albert Lea; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1977; one daughter in infancy, Sedell Ardis Flo; two sisters: Norma Fure and Olive Wogen; two brothers: Sylvan and Clifford Sime; and one grandson-in-law, Loren Brune.
