Christine E. Nielsen, 56, of Munster, Ind. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial directly at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 6525 Kentucky Ave., Hammond, Ind., with the Rev. Larry Kew officiating. Burial is to follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemeteries, Hammond, Ind. Friends are invited to meet with the family at St. Catherine of Siena Church on Monday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Christine was a lifetime resident of the Chicagoland area. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Church, where she was active in many aspects of the church and school. She taught in the school for five years and was currently serving as principal. She also taught for two years at St. Joseph School in Dyer, Ind. Christine was a loving wife and mother, and a dedicated educator. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in favor of St. Catherine of Siena School.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, James; three daughters: Emma Nielsen of Hammond, Ind., Jennifer (Patrick) Feeney of Hammond, Ind. and Catherine Nielsen of Vienna, Austria; one son: James (Elena) Nielsen of Highland, Ind.; one grandchild: Aidan Feeney; four brothers: Paul (Bonnie) Grantner of Munster, Ind., Michael (Marilyn) Grantner of Highland, Ind., Mark (Kim) Grantner of Munster, Ind. and John Grantner of Skokie, Ill.; three sisters, Catherine (Sam) Colton of Munster, Ind., Mary Grantner of Munster, Ind. and Patricia (Harlod) Therault of Griffith, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
