Clara L. Thieman, 93, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Clara Thieman will be held at Salem Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in Hartland Cemetery. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Clara Luella Rugroden was born to Ole and Martha (Simonson) Rugroden on Oct. 14, 1910, at Hartland.
She was baptized and confirmed at the Hartland Synod Church. Clara attended school in Hartland and graduated from Freeborn High School. Clara graduated from Thompson’s School of Cosmetology in Des Moines, Iowa, where she became instructor for several years. She was also instructor at Samuel’s Beauty School in Sioux City, Iowa.
Clara married Orlyn Thieman on Oct. 5, 1944. They moved to California where their son Craig Clare was born. After living in California for over 40 years, Clara moved back to Minnesota. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. She was a member of “Sew and Tell” where she made dozens of quilt tops that she and her group finished for World Relief and other organizations.
Clara died on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 93.
Clara was preceded in death by Orlyn and their son, Craig;
parents and in-laws; sisters: Stella and Harley Dally, Palma and Leonard Hughes, and Elsie and Arthur Durrant; brother, Orville M. Rugroden; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She is survived by one grandson James Craig Thieman stationed in Naples, Italy; sisters: Myrtle Back of Andover, and Nora Hendrickson of Albert Lea; daughter-in-law, Linda Madison of Georgia; sister-in-law, Elaine Rugroden of Concord, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.
