Memorial services for Clarence R. Wayne, age 89, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Clarence died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Clarence Raymond Wayne was born June 23, 1914, to Jens and Mary (Jensen) Wayne in Albert Lea where he was a life-long resident. On July 2, 1938, Clarence was united in marriage to Ruby V. Dahl in Albert Lea. He was self-employed as a general contractor in the construction business. Clarence was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and the Carpenter’s Union. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; children: Judith and her husband Wayne Thorson, Jerry and his wife Linda Wayne, and Karen and her husband Edward Sharpsteen; grandchildren: Lisa and her husband Dean Dahl, Lora and her husband Mark Sipple, Jeffrey and his wife Paula Anderson, Jason Wayne, Stacy Wayne, Emily Sharpsteen and Amy Sharpsteen; great-grandchildren: Cali, Lauren, Stephanie, Derek, Taven, Madeline, Chloe, and Isabelle; sister, Dorothy and her husband Leland Ackland; and nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Jens Wayne; sisters: Elsie Garlid, Ann Kisner, Nora Wayne and Martha Jensen; and brothers: Lawrence, Irvin, Obell, Arnold, Jens Jr. and Albert.
