Donald C. Omvig, age 59, of Albert Lea, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Bakke Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the West-Kjos Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the Church. Interment will be in the Bakke Lutheran Church Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Whitehead will officiate. The organist is Jennifer Turnwall, and the soloist is Kim Schnitzer.
Donald Clyde Omvig was born on Oct. 21, 1944, in Rolla, N.D., to Clyde E. and Pearl 0. Taylor Omvig. They moved to rural Detroit Lakes when Donald was 2 years old. He attended country school in rural Detroit Lakes and then graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1962. In 1967, Donald married Deanna Carlson in Detroit Lakes. They had three children together. Donald drove truck over the years for many companies in the Detroit Lakes area. In 1977, he married Paula Michon. In 1984, he married Dawn Callahan and they moved to Albert Lea. Donald enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn; two sons: Cory (Heather) Omvig of Lake Park, Minn., and Travis Lambert, of Medford, Minn.; three daughters: Stacey (Anthony) Brahmer of Orlando, Fla., Darcey (Marty) Hanson of Detroit Lakes, and Roxanne Callahan of Albert Lea; nine grandchildren; one brother, Earl (Esther) Omvig, of Eugene, Ore.; and one sister, Wanda (Clyde) Wassom of Canby, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde and Pearl Taylor Omvig.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Omvig residence in Albert Lea.
