Erna M. Beckmann, age 84, of Wells, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells with the Rev. Al Gunderson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Wells.
Erna was born on Oct. 16, 1919, in Lakefield, Minn., the daughter of Lewis and Anna (Lueneburg) Bisping. She grew up in the Lakefield area and moved to Mankato where she attended school. She came to Wells in 1947. She married Gustav William Beckmann on April 15, 1948, in Wells. She worked in the sugar beet fields, DelMonte Corp., Dutch’s Cafe, Schull’s Floral and at Parkview Home for 12 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the WELCA, Hope Circle, Altar Guild, the Crafty Quilters and the funeral committee. She was a member of the Wells American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, word-find puzzles and sewing.
She is survived by three children: son, Charles and wife Theresa Beckmann of Morrison., Ill.; daughter, Kathleen Beckmann of Redwood Falls; son, Michael and wife Janine Beckmann of Wells; three grandchildren: Matthew Beckmann, Melissa Lundeen and fianc Brian Turbes, and Michael and wife Amy Beckmann; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Mae Lundeen; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1970; three brothers: Harold and Edward Bisping and Lewis in infancy; and sister, Marie Bisping.
