Freda Meissenhalter, 94, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Freda A. Meissenhalter of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m.
Monday, Nov. 17, at Zion Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Paul Aldrich will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Kiester.
Mrs. Meissenhalter died Thursday evening, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center, she was 94 years of age.
Freda was born Sept. 29, 1909, in Kiester, the daughter of Conrad and Anna (Scherb) Wipplinger. She attended public school in Kiester and was united in marriage to Carl M. Meissenhalter on Nov. 26, 1931, in Kiester. Together they farmed outside of Kiester until moving to Waverly, Iowa in 1939. They returned to Kiester the next year, and moved to the Albert Lea area in 1943. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and was active in Bible Study and the church circle.
Freda enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens’ Center, playing cards, fishing and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special love for quilting and handcrafted many quilts with her friends at the Zion Church.
Freda is survived by her daughter, Betty and her husband Jon Bera, of Albert Lea; 11 grandchildren; 22-great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Meissenhalter of Napa, Calif.; a sister, Ann and her husband George Anderson, of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; son John; seven brothers; and three sisters.
