Knutson, Lau G-E co-MVP

GLENVILLE &045; Award winners for the 2003 Glenville-Emmons High School football team were presented at the fall sports banquet Thursday.

The Defensive Player of the Year Award went to senior Derek Lau.

The Offensive Player of the Year was senior Kris Knutson.

Knutson and Lau were voted co-Most Valuable Player by their teammates.

The Pride Award was given to senior quarterback Mike Yocom.

The Most Improved Player Award recipient was senior lineman Wade Johnson.

Twenty-one players lettered as the Wolverines finished with a win-loss record of 5-5.

All-conference awards were earned by Knutson, Lau and sophomore tight end Wade Flattum. Honorable mention awards were given to senior running back Tony Walk and wide receiver Eli Riggle.

Lau was voted the Lineman of the Year in the Southern Confederacy Conference.

The rest of the roster included seniors Wes Kosuge, Tommy Burns, Erik Nelson, K.C. Long and Wade Johnson, juniors Alex Hansen, Cole Thompson, Josh Semrau, Caleb Claussen, Seth Holstad, Ryan Madsen and Nathan Cooper, sophomores Garrett Davis, Justin Flattum, Seth Buchanan, Tyler Boyum, Travis Bottelson and Cody Kapaun, and freshmen Brandon Reyerson, Josh Adams and Jarrad Knutson.

Andy Baumgartner and Al Christensen served as co-head coaches for the Wolverines. Mike Sanderson was a volunteer coach.
