Lambert ‘Bert’ Vande Kamp, 77, North Branch, Minn.

Bert Vande Kamp passed away on Oct. 29, 2003, at his rural home near North Branch, Minn. He was 77 years old.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1925, to Garret and Hattie Vande Kamp near Silver Creek, Minn. He attended school in Silver Creek.
He joined the CCC Camp in 1941. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in October 1944, serving in South Korea with L. Company, 63rd Infantry, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged September 1946.
Bert married Ruth Ames on Nov. 3, 1946. He worked at Verdorn’s Garage in Hollandale. He also farmed near Ellendale, Cambridge and North Branch.
Bert was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing his catch with friends. He also enjoyed sharing his faith in Christ with many people. He also enjoyed his family, relatives and friends.
He is survived by wife, Ruth Vande Kamp; five sons: Gary and wife Gail, Bob and wife Lee Ann, Ron, Bruce and wife Carol, and Ross and wife Deb; sister, Effie Torell and husband Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Garret and Hattie Vande Kamp; brother, Walter Vande Kamp; sister, Jennie Rowe; grandson, Kevin William Vande Kamp; and father- and mother-in-law: Harold and Mrs. Ames.
Services were held at Harris Covenant Church, Harris, Minn., on Nov. 4. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, North Branch.
