Mattie Martinson, age 92, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the Emmons Lutheran Church with the Rev. Julie Fiske officiating.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and again at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Emmons.

Mattie O. Martinson was born Oct. 25, 1911, to Anton and Agnes Amundson in Freeborn County.

On April 12, 1935, she was united in marriage to Orville A. Martinson in Glenville.

Orville passed away on Oct. 5, 1994.

Mattie is survived by one son, Gerald and his wife Marion Martinson of Emmons; and one daughter, Ardis and her husband Robert Johnson of Lake Mills, Iowa; grandchildren, Lynette and her husband Ron Rietsema of Hollandale, Greg and his wife Joyce Johnson of Waconia, Nancy and her husband Dan Archer of Kasson, Paul and his wife Laura Stene of Hartland, and Nissa and her husband Jeff Rieck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Aaron and his wife Carrie Rietsema of Hollandale, Hannah, Emily and Mitchell Johnson of Waconia, and Michael and Holly Stene of Hartland; sisters-in-law, Veva Amundson of Albert Lea,

Katherine Amundson of Northwood, Iowa, and Claire Martinson of St. Paul; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mattie was preceded in death by her husband Orville; her parents; brothers, Arthur, Maynard, Alf, Alfred, Walter and Henry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Olga and Lester Marpe, Stella and Julius Hoverson, Alice and Peter Tveite, Clara and Chuck Warrington; sisters, Alma Larson and Hazel Amundson; nephew, Kermit Marpe; and brothers-in-law, Vernon Martinson and Clifford Martinson.
