Philip James Evans, 61, Kasson

Funeral services for Philip James Evans, age 61, of Kasson, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson. The Rev. John Wisenberger will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Macken Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour before services at the church. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea, where there will be a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
He died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Rochester Methodist Hospital of cancer following a brief illness.
Phillip was born on March 19, 1942, at Stanberry, Mo. He married Judy Marie Klingbeil on July 31, 1961, in Northwood, Iowa.
He was a physical designer of computers at IBM in Rochester. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga. Phillip was a member of the American Legion in Kasson and the Southern Minnesota Hunting Retriever Association. His family was important to him. He enjoyed watching football, hunting and fishing.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Judy, of Kasson; two daughters: Roxanne M. (Steve) Hagelberger of Woodbury, Minn., and Melissa S. (Kurt) Radke of Prescott, Wis.; one son, Wes E. (Lori) Evans of Kasson; his mother, Virginia I. Jensen of Kasson; seven grandchildren; and brothers and sisters: Linda (John) Campbell of Chesapeake, Va., Michael Jensen of Minneapolis, and Jan Wilson of Kasson.
He was preceded in death by his father.
