Cora Klukow, 93, Conger

Funeral services for Cora Klukow, age 93, of Conger will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Concordia Bear Lake Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Greaver will officiate. Interment will be in Bear Lake Cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Cora died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

Cora Klukow was born Dec. 19, 1910, to Fred and Mata (Steele) Miller in Alden Township. She spent her entire life in Freeborn County and had attended Babbitt, Schmidt and Conger Schools and graduated from the Minnesota Agriculture High School in St. Paul. On Dec. 19, 1929, Cora was united in marriage to Erick 0. Klukow at Concordia Pickerel Lake Lutheran Church. She and Erick farmed in Nunda Township for more than 60 years. They were snowbirds, spending 29 winters in Arizona. She had been a 4-H leader in the Four Lakes Club, a member of Clover Valley Homemakers Extension Club and Mothers Club of District No. 42 School. Cora was an active member of Bear Lake Concordia Lutheran Church, WELCA and Rachel Circle. She loved to play cards, quilt for Lutheran World Relief and craftwork. Cora was a member of Alden Senior Citizens and Conger Senior Citizens Group and had taken several bus trips with the Albert Lea Senior Citizens. She enjoyed filling her life with as much activity as she could and lamented the passing of many good friends and relatives. Cora was always happy to receive cards, letters and phone calls.

Survivors include her children: Larry Klukow of Burnsville, Darryl and his wife Kaye Klukow of Conger, and Janice Callahan of Chatfield; brother, Marvin Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren: Doug and his wife Nancy Klukow of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Deborah and her husband Craig Gade of Whittemore, Iowa, Thomas and his wife Wendy Klukow of Hudson, Ohio, Elizabeth and her husband Jared Kopp of Burnsville, Shane Callahan of Chatfield, Mark and his wife Danielle Klukow of Edina, Aaron Callahan of Kewanee, Ill., and Tanya Callahan and her fianc Brian Briggs of Chatfield; 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erick; brothers: Fred and his wife Doris Miller, Glenn and his wife Lillian Miller, and Arthur, in infancy; sisters, Irma and her husband Harold Fink and Melita and her husband Melvin Fink; sister-in-law, Carolyn Miller; and many friends.

Cora appreciated all the care and concern of nieces and nephews, neighbors, community members, relatives and fellow church members that made it possible for her to remain in her home and travel to Arizona as long as she could. She will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
