Doris Victoria Holleschau, 95, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Doris Victoria Nielsen Holleschau will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. David Gray will officiate. Burial will be in the Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel.
Doris died on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea. She was 95 years old.
Doris was born Aug. 7, 1908, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Marinus and Fredrikke (Paulsen) Nielsen. She attended school in LeSueur and Conger. She grew up in LeSueur, Conger and Albert Lea.
On May 19, 1928, Doris was united in marriage with Carlos R. Holleschau in Albert Lea. They then moved to Freeborn to begin farming. After the tornado of 1967 that took their farm, they moved to Janesville where they owned and operated the Cozy Comer Cafe. Later on she returned to Albert Lea where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Doris was very active in the church and loved to entertain friends and family. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters on many of their bus trips. Some of her many hobbies included playing cards, knitting and dancing. Doris enjoyed life to the fullest.
Doris is survived by two daughters: Beverly (LaVerne) Miller of Owatonna, and Lola Eastlund of Albert Lea; one daughter-in-law, Nellie Gullings of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; one sister, Dorothy (Bill) Berger of Hawaii; one sister-in-law, Buelah Guenther of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlos; son, Harlan; son-in-law, Eastie; granddaughter, Vicki; brother, Don; three sisters: Edith, Fannie and Harriet; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.
She was very much loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Blessed be her memories.
