Higher ed. finance committee schedules hearing at Riverland

The Minnesota House of Representatives Higher Education Finance Committee, chaired by Representative Doug Stang (R-Cold Spring), will meet today at Riverland Community College in Austin to consider the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System’s 2004 bonding request. James McCormick, chancellor of the system, will speak at the hearing. Riverland Community College President Terrence Leas will provide a brief welcome.

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System is seeking $274.9 million for renovation and building projects on campuses across the state. The system’s request includes a $5.1-million project for Riverland Community College to remodel more than 27,000 square feet of lab and classroom space to accommodate growing nursing and allied health care career training at the Albert Lea and Austin facilities.

Chairman Doug Stang and committee members from the House of Representatives Higher Education Finance Committee will also be on hand.
