Marjorie Eudora Hansen, 77, Freeborn

Marjorie Eudora Hansen, age 77, of Freeborn, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea from complications of cancer.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ in Freeborn. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 23, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Freeborn Cemetery.
Marjorie was born on Feb. 6, 1926, in Harmony, Minn., the daughter of Merrill and Borghilde (Bjorge) Benson. She attended country school and graduated from Harmony High School in 1943, and attended teachers training at Preston High School in 1944. She attended Winona State University and received her teaching degree. Marjorie taught third grade in the Virginia, Minn., area and met James in 1958.
They were married on Aug. 20,1960, at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. They farmed in the Freeborn area and she served as a substitute teacher at Freeborn Elementary School and other area schools. She was a member of Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ and active in her circle, the Women’s Fellowship, and served on many church committees. Marjorie was a 4-H advisor for many years and enjoyed traveling all over the world. She and Jim spent the past 16 winters in Corpus Christi, Texas. She enjoyed watching all sports and collecting teddy bears.
She is survived by her husband, James Hansen of rural Freeborn; two sons and their wives: Rick and Suzanne Hansen of South St. Paul, and Bob and Tonya Hansen of Freeborn; two grandchildren: Ryan and Anika Hansen of Freeborn; one sister, Patricia (husband Milroy) Tollin of St. Charles, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Marie Hansen of Freeborn; one niece, Rochelle (husband Terry) Fabian of Rockford, Minn.; and one nephew: Tom (wife Deanna) Tollin of St. Charles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Quentin Benson; and one nephew, Mike Tollin.
