Peter Bracker, a junior forward, was slashed in the forearm area and lost a lot of blood on the ice while awaiting the ambulance crew.

“He was bleeding pretty bad,” said Albert Lea coach Roy Nystrom. “It was kind of scary, no question about that.”

It happened late in the first period.

“I didn’t see the entire play,” said Nystrom. “They were in the corner, and all of a sudden he came up and there was blood all over the place. He must have been cut by a skate.”

Steve Bracker confirmed that Peter’s wrist had been lacerated by a skate that cut into arteries.

The game was delayed 35 minutes before Bracker was taken by ambulance to the Owatonna hospital. He was later transferred to Rochester. Nystrom knew no other details late Tuesday night.

“He’s probably in surgery, I would assume,” said Nystrom.

Bracker was reportedly conscious throughout the ordeal.

&uot; The doctor labeled (the surgery) as ‘find and fix,’&uot; Bracker said. Doctors repaired any injured areas they found in his wrist.

&uot; It’ll take some time to heal,&uot; said Peter’s father, and Peter will spend a few more days recuperating in the hospital.

“The last thing Pete told me before he left was, ‘Win this one for me,'” said Nystrom. “I conveyed that to the players.”

The Tigers won the game, 6-4.
