Travis Duaine Newman, age 18, of Alden, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at the Owatonna Hospital in Owatonna from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Visitation will be at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden today, Jan. 7, from 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery in Alden. Arrangements are by Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home, Wells.
Travis was born July 7, 1985, in Albert Lea, the son of Mark and LaVonne (Koehler) Newman.
Travis was a senior at the Alden-Conger High School. He was active in football and baseball. Travis was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. He loved to go hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, jet skiing, listening to music, chatting on the computer, and driving his truck. He enjoyed working as a carpenter with his dad, brother, uncle and grandpa. Travis loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents: Mark and LaVonne Newman of Alden; two sisters: Teresa and her husband Bob Dulitz, and their children, Brandon and Tyler Dulitz of Owatonna, and Tammy Newman and special friend, Rob Arnold and his daughter, Alexis, of Alden; one brother, Troy and his wife Darcy Newman and their children, Kelsey and Carter Newman of Alden; paternal grandpa, Walter Newman of Thorne Crest South in Albert Lea; three aunts: Sharon and her husband Dennis Edwin of Kirkwood, Ill., Donna and husband Allen Schmidt of Alden, and Karolyn and husband Duane Johns of Kansas City, Kan.; three uncles: Daryl and his wife Susie Newman of Albert Lea, Duane “Butch” and
his wife Donna Newman of Alden, and David Newman of Miami, Fla.; and numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandma, Thelma Newman; maternal grandparents: Karl and Viola Koehler; aunt, Karen Newman; and uncle, Duaine Koehler.
