Velva Vicki Miller, 91, Mankato

Velva Victoria “Vicki” Miller, age 91, of Mankato, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at the Mankato Lutheran Home.

Memorial services were held 11 a.m. today, Jan. 28, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato, the Rev. Dean Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church today. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Miller was born Nov. 13, 1912, to James and Nelli (Frost) Beighley in Gordonsville. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1929 and Mankato Teachers College in 1931.

Vicki married Wilbur Ross Miller on Aug. 18, 1934, in Gordonsville. She was cashier/bookkeeper at S&L Department Store in Mankato, then managed Shari Candy Company from 1943 until 1977. Vicki was a member of the Benevolent Order of Does and TOPS/KOPS for more than 20 years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Vicki enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and travel.

Vicki is survived by two daughters: Mary Miller of Oregon City, Ore., and Jane Seelig and her husband Edwin of Klamath Falls, Ore.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur, in 1995; daughter, Susan Menton; three sisters; and three brothers.
