Walter Vogelsang, 93, Wells

Walter R. Vogelsang, 93, of Wells, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Wells.
The Rev. Art Keith will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Walter was born June 25, 1910, in Vivian Township, Waseca County, the son of William and Lydia (Miller) Vogelsang. Walter attended country school through eighth grade. On Nov. 25, 1930, he was united in marriage to Esther E. Johnston in Freeborn County. After their marriage, Walter and Esther lived on a farm for three years and then moved to Wells. Walter drove a truck and worked at Lampert Yards until 1942, where he went to the Well public school as a janitor. He retired from that position in 1975. Walter was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wells. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports.
He is survived by his wife Esther Vogelsang of Wells; five children: Gerald and his wife Donna Vogelsang of Howard Lake, Minn., Donna Lee and her husband Gordon Kaiser of New Richland, Beverly and her husband Norman Malakowsky of Mankato, Minn., Dale and his wife Joan Vogelsang of Waseca, Minn. and Donald and his wife Judy Vogelsang of Waseca, Minn. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Carol in 1964, two sister and one brother.
