Funeral services for Albert Vavra, age 90, formerly of Blooming Prairie, will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev George Marin will officiate. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the chapel.

Albert died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Albert Vavra was born Aug. 3, 1913, to Louis and Marie (Skalicky) Vavra. He was born and raised in the Blooming Prairie area and worked on the family farm. On Dec. 31, 1941, Albert was united in marriage to Bonita Prusha in Blooming Prairie. The couple continued to farm and Albert also worked in the Hollandale area during fall harvest. He retired from farming 20 years ago. Albert enjoyed fishing and playing cards with his family. He was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge.

Survivors include his children: Kathy and her husband Paul Folie of Albert Lea, Bill and his wife Leone Vavra of Blooming Prairie, Jeannie and her husband Jim Worrell of Geneva, Sue and her husband Steve Peterson of Hartland, and Tom and his wife Cindy Vavra of Blooming Prairie; 12 grandchildren ; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonita; brother, Louie; and sisters: Elizabeth and Mary.
