Funeral services for Edna Arvilla Lunning, age 88, formerly of Browerville, Bertha and Clarissa, Minn., will be 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Clarissa. The Rev. Mary Carol Strug will officiate. Interment will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Thompson, Iowa.
She was a resident of Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa, and died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004,, at Staples, Minn.
She was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Sena Tollagson. She married Mervin Amandel Lunning on June 30, 1927, in Sparta, Wis.
She was a homemaker, lived 35 years in central Minnesota, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Dennis D. (Joanne) Lunning of Clarissa; two daughters: Sandi M. (Wally) Schiele of Evansville, Minn., and Cheryl A. Hayes of Clarissa; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild;
sister, Pearl Smith of Mission, Texas; several nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Kenneth Mosser of Wells; sisters-in-law: Melva Tollagson of Forest City, Iowa, Delia Harrison of Albert Lea, and Marian Traverso of El Sobrante, Calif.; brother-in-law, Kenneth Lunning of Oshkosh, Wis.; and grandchildren: Susan (Gary) Morcum of Pleasantville, Iowa, Daniel (Julie) Lunning of Clear Lake, Minn., Darin (Tammy) Lunning of Fort Myers, Fla., Brenda Doebber of Apple Valley, Minn., Bill (Tanya) Egeness of Eagle Bend, Minn., Cyndi (Dennis) Hagfors of West Union, Minn., Sonja Christianson of Osakis, James Mosser of Mississippi, Michelle (Scott) Ritter of Melrose, Minn., Donna (Steve) Hinzmann of Browerville, Kim (Scott) Swanson of Eagle Bend, and Mike (Barb) Hayes of Clarissa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Lunning on Jan. 31, 1974; parents: Carl T. and Sena (Sabin) Tollagson; son, Douglas Melvin Lunning in 1974; daughter, Janet K. Mosser; brothers: (twins) Joseph and Clarence, and Elmer, Melvin, Clifford and Leonard Tollagson; and two granddaughters: Kim Mosser and Dawn Lunning.
