Memorial services for Eldon Leidal, age 58, of Northwood, Iowa, will be held at the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 3, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jeff Wallager will officiate. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of Northwood is in charge of arrangementsThere will be no visitation. Burial will be at the Deer Creek Cemetery.
Eldon died on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at his home in Northwood.
Eldon was born Oct. 29, 1945, to Milferd and Edna (Broitzman) Leidal. He was baptized and confirmed at the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. Eldon was raised by his grandparents, Morris and Amanda (Foley) Leidal, after the death of his mother Edna in 1946. He attended grade school at the Davis School Dist. #59, seventh and eighth grade at the Glenville High School and graduated from Northwood High School.
Eldon worked at Wilson’s in Albert Lea, painted with Tom Mooney, worked at Fleet Guard in Lake Mills, and owned Leidal Sanitation in Northwood for many years. His interests were; Elvis Presley, the Green Bay Packers, the Northwood-Kensett football games, metal detecting, and his Corvettes.
Survivors include his sisters: Marcile (Kenneth) Anderson of Glenville, Lorraine (David) Horning of Glenville, and Donna (Michael) Edworthy of League City, Texas; brothers: Tim (Vicki) Leidal of Charles City, Iowa, and Tom Leidal of Lyle; special uncle, Wayne (Helen) Leidal of Glenville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; Milferd and Edna (Broitzman) Leidal and sister Diane Leidal, grandparents; Morris and Amanda (Foley) Leidal, and Bernhard and Eliza (Wolff) Broitzman.
Eldon will be sadly missed by his family and special friends: Wayne Jacobs, Dennis Grube, and Obed Ladd and his dog, Lady.
It is the family’s wish that memorials go to the Deer Creek Cemetery.
